Beginning this summer, roaming charges throughout Europe will be cut in half as governments try to eliminate the fees altogether. An announcement from the European Commission says that it will place a limit on mobile carriers to cut the fees in half for data, 25 percent for texting, and more than 20 percent for calls.
The EC's greater plan, however, is to eliminate the roaming fees by 2016. This plan will go into effect on July 1.
