Brazil-Germany FIFA World Cup 2014 becomes Most-Tweeted Sports Game ever

Did you watch last night's match? If you were a Brazil support, my sincere condolences. Germany simply ripped apart the host country's defense and pumped in more goals than England did in their entire World Cup campaign this year.

Yes, #BRAvsGER was the most exciting match of FIFA World Cup 2014 so far. It also happens to be the most-tweeted sports game ever, beating the previous record holders Superbowl 48 (382,000 tweets per minute) and Brazil-Chile match (389,000 tweets per minute) earlier in this very World Cup.

Last night's Brazil-Germany semi-final drew 35.6 million tweets during the match, more than double the 16.4 million tweets posted during the Brazil-Chile clash last week. At its peak, Twitter noted 580,166 tweets per minute (jaw drops to the floor).

Germany beat Brazil 7-1 to move on to the finals of the FIFA World Cup 2014, where they will play against the winners of tonight's semi-final between Argentina-Netherlands.
