Uber today announced an experimental carpooling service. Dubbed appropriately as UberPool, Uber is promising lower fares to the tune of 40% as compared to UberX rates. Of course, to get a cheaper ride, you will have to agree to share a cab with total strangers. But who knows, in one of these shared cab rides, you might meet your soul mate.
Anyways, snapping out of the movie world, UberPool is currently only available in the San Francisco Bay Area, exclusively for Google employees. Uber will roll out the service to more users on August 15th.
Additionally, if you can't find a match using UberPool, Uber will offer you a discount on a traditional Uber cab ride.
