Phantom Flex4K Soaks in 4K Video at 1000 FPS

Vision Systems' latest creation turned out to be an eyeball magnet at NAB 2013. The company's new Phantom Flex4K cinema camera can capture 3840 x 2160-pixel video at a blistering 1,000 frames-per-second (FPS), but in 5-second bursts, which can amount to three minutes of 4K video at 24 FPS, allowing for some jaw-dropping slow-motion footage, like the one below. It can also capture 1920 x 1080-pixel video at 2,000 FPS (in the same 5 s bursts), and 1280 x 720-pixel video at 3,000 FPS. Video is recorded in an unspecified lossless format.

The Phantom Flex4K can be equipped with standard mount and lens equipment, it ships with support for PL, PV Canon EOS or Nikon F/G mounts. The camera will be available with an optional Phantom Cinemag IV, a fast 2 terabyte storage medium, which can hold up to 2 hours of lossless 4K video. Other accessories, include a Bluetooth-connected remote control unit (RCU), over 12 stops of HDR, and HD-SDI video output.

The Flex4K is expected to be priced around $110,000.
