Google Play 4.0 Deployed on Phones and Tablets

Google Play 4.0, the newest version of Google's marketplace and repository of apps and content for Android smartphones and tablets, began rolling out. The new version brings with it a redesign, which focuses on bigger images and clearer text; better organization of apps and content relevant to your search, and a more streamlined checkout process for paid apps and content.

To begin with, Play 4.0 introduces a fresh new look that tones down on with background user interface elements, and introduces bigger, clearer pictures - which could be anything from book covers to app screenshots, movie posters, and so on. Search suggestions are redesigned to be more accurate, at the same time, not disrupting your main search terms. Lastly, the checkout process is streamlined, with fewer steps involved in purchasing or renting apps or content (books, magazines, movies, and TV shows).

Google Play 4.0 will be available as a software update to all devices running Android 2.2 and above.
