One of the major disadvantages of Windows Phone smartphones is in its display resolution. Current WP smartphones come with WVGA, WXGA, and 720p resolutions which are everything but stunning. Even though manufacturers are ready for 1080p handsets, the operating system is still missing the support.
Luckily, not for a long time as sources familiar with Microsoft's Windows Phone plans have revealed that the company is working on a new update. The update will be released as part of a separate General Distribution Release (GDR3), will bring 1080p display support.
Along with 1080p support, it will also bring support for quad-core processors, as well. It is rumored that the update will be released before Christmas.
