Kindle App Updated With New Audiobook Features

Fans of audiobooks will be pleased to know that the Kindle app will be receiving a hefty update.

The latest update introduces immersive mode to Android 4.4 and up, as well as new chapter navigation to the user interface, and an orientation lock. In addition to audio controls, the app also now includes Bluetooth device pairing.

With this version, Kindle for Android requires access to new app permissions. Amazon has detailed explanations about the features that require permissions on their customer service page. For example, with the "Read phone status & identity" permission, Kindle pauses audio playback when a call is in progress.
