Ever wondered what an art gallery would look like in the eyes of a robot? Tate Britain is offering citizens of the Internet the opportunity to find out.
Over the next five days, the After Dark experience will have four nocturnal, telepresence robots exploring the empty halls of the gallery after visiting hours. The devices will transmit video feeds directly to the Internet, allowing users to see through their eyes.
For a short duration of time, users will have the ability to maneuver the robots around the gallery. If they wish, an art historian could also provide commentary about the exhibits.
To protect the gallery from theft or any other kind of malpractice, the devices have been designed to lose power should they come to close to any of the exhibits.
