HTC's newest creation for the value-conscious Chinese market sees the company bring some of its flagship handset's distinct features to the mainstream, with the new HTC 606w. The handset surfaced at its filing with TENAA database, a repository of approved mobile handsets. The 606w looks essentially like the HTC First, minus Facebook Home.
The 606w strikes a great balance of features. It features a 4.5-inch screen with qHD (960 x 540 pixels) resolution, stereo speakers or "BoomSound" as implemented on HTC One, an 8-megapixel primary camera accompanied with a 1.6-megapixel front-facing one, and support for TSCDMA. Under its hood is a 1.20 GHz quad-core processor (likely a Cortex-A7 implementation by MediaTek), 1 GB of RAM, and Android 4.1 operating system. Like the HTC One, the 606w features a dual soft-key design, but the sleek aluminum unibody makes way for rubberized polycarbonate.
