Although next-generation iPad retains the same 9.7-inch screen size, and a body design not unlike an upscaled iPad mini, the display itself could see a major improvement, not that it needs one. Third- and fourth-generation iPad feature an eye-pleasing 2048 x 1536-pixel IPS "Retina" display. The next-generation iPad reportedly features an IGZO (indium gallium zinc oxide) panel, a technology promoted by Sharp.
IGZO display panels offer either high pixel density and richer color reproduction, or higher display refresh-rates. In context of a tablet, we imagine the first option being opted for by Apple. The next iPad could hence feature a higher display resolution than the already high 2048 x 1536, which is also more vibrant thanks to the technology.
