NVIDIA Shield On Pre-order from the 20th

NVIDIA's ambitious game console push, Shield (formerly 'project: Shield'), is almost ready for business. The handheld console will be up for pre-order on popular e-tailers such as Newegg.com and Gamestop, for $349, and MicroCenter, covering US and Canada. The pre-order will be up on May 20, and the first orders will begin shipping out this June.

Roughly the size and shape of a wireless console controller, Shield combines a full-fledged controller with multiple axes, D-pad, action buttons, and triggers; a 5-inch multi-touch display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution; a high-capacity battery, stereo speakers with an independent bass port, WLAN, and NVIDIA's own Tegra 4 SoC driving Android 4.1 "Jelly Bean." Games best suited for the console are sourced from the TegraZone marketplace, which is independent of Google Play.
