Sigma announced pricing and pre-orders for its new 18-35 mm F1.8 DC HSM Art lens. Optimized for DSLRs with APS-C sensors, the lens lends an effective focal range comparable to of 27-52.5 mm on a 35 mm camera. F1.8 makes the lens particularly great for low-light photography without needing bulky equipment, which could make this lens a quick sell for Sigma.
The DC HSM Art series is built with Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) materials on the barrel, which ensures temperature doesn't affect your focus. A patented Super Multi-Layer Coating on the lens reduces lens-flare and ghosting. Its Hyper Sonic Motor is designed to be virtually noise- and vibration-free, making sure the two don't affect your footing, even the slightest. It supports Sigma's USB dock that lets you calibrate the lens, and upgrade its firmware.
The lens will be generally available in early-July, in the United States, where it will carry a street price of $799. It will initially ship with mounts for Sigma and Canon cameras; mounts for Nikon, Sony, and Pentax will follow a little later.
