Dota 2 Set For Summer Release

Valve's Dota 2, the free-to-play sequel of the wildly popular competitive Defense of The Ancients, has been in an official beta state since September of 2011, but is set for a full release in North America and Europe sometime before August of this summer.

Talking with GameSpot, Valve's Vice President of marketing, Doug Lombardi, stated that the game would be released prior to The International 3 competition which will be held this year at Benaroya Hall in Seattle, Washington from August 7th through August 11th and that they would reveal more details in the coming weeks.

Valve's distributor of Dota 2 in South Korea, Nexon, has also announced that they will be ponying up $1.7 million in prize money for the launch of the game there which is estimated to be sometime in the fall of this year.
