After tons of speculations about will it come to the mobile market, Microsoft has finally announced Office version in app form. Depending on your region, Office is available to download via iTunes and is currently only available to iPhone users. The suite includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
"Microsoft Office Mobile is the official Office companion optimized for your iPhone. You can access, view and edit your Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint documents from virtually anywhere. Documents look like the originals, thanks to support for charts, animations, SmartArt graphics and shapes. When you make quick edits or add comments to a document, the formatting and content remain intact," describes Microsoft.
The full name of the app is "Office Mobile for Office 365 subscribers," meaning it has some sort of connection with Office 365. Unfortunately, it does and not in a good way. To use the Office Mobile app, you need to have an Office 365 subscription that costs a $100 per year.
The app is also connected with SkyDrive, automatically syncing with cloud content. At the moment, there is no word on an Android version of the app. However, it is expected that Microsoft is also preparing that version.
