Steam users who were not in the beta program will be happy to know that Steam Trading Cards will be available for general release tomorrow, June 26th. The cards will drop in-game, and can be collected and sets can be converted to badges for various in-game perks.
Players will be able to start collecting cards in Counter-Stroke:Global Offense, DOTA 2, Portal 2, Team Fortress 2 and Don't Starve. When a player collects a set of cards, they can be converted to badges that will randomly unlock in-game emoticon, Steam profile background, discounts on game or 100 additional XP for Steam Level increases.
Half the cards will drop while the players are playing a game and the other half will be available to trade with friends, however, Steam has recently announce that the trade offers and card binders features will be added in post release.
