Windows Phone 8 GDR2 Update Rolling Out, Changelog Inside

Microsoft's first major update to their Windows Phone 8 platform in a while, the Windows Phone 8 GDR2 update, is now rolling out to a range of devices, and brings a host of new features to all Windows Phone 8 powered devices currently in the market. Changelog posted below.

*GDR2 - General Distribution Release 2

  • Data Sense - Helps keep track of your data consumption over 3G and WiFi
  • FM Radio on supported handsets
  • Set your own camera app of choice as the default
  • Improvements in HTML5 performance
  • Improved VoIP app performance and stability (Skype, Lync)

The WP8 GDR2 update is not a big one. The GDR3 update, scheduled for later this year (or perhaps early 2014) will bring significant changes under the hood such as support for quad-core processors and 1080p displays.
