Sony announced a new PlayStation 4 variant today. The PS4 Ultimate Player 1TB Edition comes with, you guessed it right, 1TB of storage. Doubling the internal storage of the PlayStation 4 is something fans have been asking for since the launch of the console. Many felt that 500GB is just too little in today's times, and the PS4 1TB variant is the answer to that.
The price of the PS4 Ultimate Player 1TB Edition is yet to be announced. Sony didn't announce a price cut for the regular PlayStation 4 with 500GB storage, so we might be looking at a $50 markup. Even then, a 1TB PS4 for $449 sounds great.
Sony Releases New PlayStation 4 CUH-1200 Series
In addition to the new PlayStation 4 Ultimate Player 1TB Edition, Sony announced the updated PlayStation 4 CUH-1200 series. The updated PS4 console consumes 8% less power. Hopefully, the original PS4 model also gets a boost on power efficiency from a software update (unless this is a result of hardware changes).
Additionally, the new PS4 is 10% lighter, weighing roughly 2.5KGs. It also loses the glossy finish, with Sony going for a complete matte finish for the new PS4 series. Sony will first release the updated console in Japan this month, with a worldwide release scheduled for soon after. No price cut was announced for the PS4.
