Popular racing franchise Asphalt, a fun racing game available on a variety of platforms (Java phones get petty graphics of course), is gearing up to launch the next installment in their racing series (they have released games twice as fast as Call of Duty) for mobile platforms. Say hello to Asphalt 8: Airborne.
Developer Gameloft details that the name 'Airborne' comes from the fact that the cars in the game can actually jump into the air while racing (after hitting obstacles of course), which wasn't possible in the earlier versions of the game. This is possible due to enhancements made to the game engine, which will feature a brand new, more realistic physics engine. Certainly that isn't all to the new version of a racing franchise. The developers promise even better graphics (meaning, even higher hardware requirements), to almost approach console quality (take this with two grains of salt). Gameloft says that Asphalt 8 has been optimized to perfectly run on the retina display (1920 x 1200) of Google's new Nexus 7 (2013) tablet.
Asphalt 8: Airborne will be loaded with content. There will be 180 events, 47 cars to drive as well as a multiplayer component in the new title. Everything is, of course, linked to a global Leaderboard.
