The Commodore brand is returning and it is doing so with a smartphone. A pair of Italian entrepreneurs are bringing back the brand and their phone will emphasize gaming. The Commodore PET uses a custom version of Android 5.0 and includes a 13-megapixel camera, 64-bit 1.7 GHz MediaTek processor, 16/32 GB of expandable storage, a 3000 mAh battery, and a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display.
This device's bottom tier model (16 GB of storage, 2 GB of RAM) will only cost $300 and it is launching in Europe this week. A US release is already planned. For $365, customers can get a unit with 32 GB of internal storage and 3 GB of RAM.
Gaming emulators will be built into the device. The Commodore PET will include the VICE C64 and Uae4All2-SDL Amiga, two emulators currently found on the Google Play store.
