Mojang Moves 5 Million Copies Of Minecraft Pocket Edition

In a tweet from Minecraft developer Johan Bernhardsson, he revealed that Minecraft Pocket Edition, the Android and iOS version for mobile devices, has moved 5 million units so far. This comes right on the heels of the announcement that the Xbox Edition sold 4.5 million.

It looks like Minecraft is continuing to sell very well on all its platforms. According the Minecraft website, the PC and Mac versions have sold 8.3 million until. Add to that the 4.5 million Xbox copies and the 5 million mobile ones, and the total units comes to almost 18 million units.

It looks like Notch is still a happy camper as what started as just an small Indie game endeavor has grown into a worldwide phenomenon.

 Both the Android and iOS Pocket Editions sell for $7. A steal for such a spectacular game.
