With Assassin's Creed 3, Ubisoft brought a new hunting system that we spent countless hours on. The environment was beautifully painted and allowed us to explore more than we had expected. Well, with Assassin's Creed 4, Ubisoft wants to bring a huge open world to us. However, this time round, the huge open world comes in the form of an expansive sea. A developer humbly says that this is the biggest game that they've ever made and that sailing across the Caribbean will take players an astounding half an hour. For those who are panicking at finding out about this, worry not. The game will have its own fast-travel system (of course it will, you can't keep making half an hour sailing trips every now and then now can you).
"We don't talk about it in terms of size, that would be a little bit unfair - there is a lot of ocean in the Caribbean. But it is the biggest game we've ever made."
"The story and narrative itself will last 15-20 hours, but we're hoping that people got lost in the Caribbean world, in the toybox we've created."
"It will take - [to sail] across the whole game world - maybe half an hour." - Ashraf Ismail, Game Director
