ArenaNet Annihilates Thousands Of Bots In Guild Wars 2
In a Guild Wars 2 blog entry, Guild Wars 2 ArenaNet Security Coordinator, Mike Lewis, stated that they have terminated over 34,000 bot accounts in the game in November. Automated bots cause headaches for both game network managers as well as the honest players.
Mr. Lewis goes on to state that the number of bots being reported every hour, worldwide, in the game has dropped from around 2000 in October to about 20 at the time he made the blog entry.
They have been using powerful data analyzing tool to collect information on the habits of real players and those of the automated bots. They then use specialized tools to weed out the bots and terminate the accounts. They have given a major focus to automating the process to help keep the number of bots at a much more manageable level.
If you were making money farming items in Guild Wars 2, you may want to consider a career change as it looks like they rolled out the big guns and it won't be long before you're in the crosshairs.
