Samsung has announced the long anticipated flagship smartphones at the MWC. The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge look great both live and on paper, but there are some key improvements, especially in the camera department with the new Dual Pixel technology.
Although Galaxy S6 had great camera performance, Samsung decided to make a drastic change. Many were expecting the use of BRITECELL camera, but Samsung uses Sony's 1/2.5-inch IMX260 camera sensor with bigger individual pixels (1.44 microns) and a wider aperture (f/1.7).
The Dual Pixel tech is almost the same as the Phase Detect technology used on top-tier smartphones, DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. Each pixel on the camera sensor has a phase detection photodiode, and larger pixel collects more lights.
