Next DisplayPort Can Drive 8K HDR Monitors

The next DisplayPort standard, version 1.4, will add support for 8K HDR displays. With this improvement, the DisplayPort standard is being updated for the first time since 2014. The last update brought support for dual 4K monitors and DisplayPort 1.4 will further future-proof your setup.

When using one of these connectors, you'll be able to show 8K HDR content at 60 Hz or 4K HDR content at 120 Hz. DisplayPort 1.4 uses the latest Display Stream Compression technology from VESA to compress footage without a drop in quality.

This standard will also let DisplayPort connections carry 32 audio channels at up to 1536 kHz.
