2560 x 1600 px Display and Snapdragon 800 Confirmed for Next-Gen Kindle Fire HD

A GFXBench validation confirmed that Amazon's next flagship 8.9-inch tablet, the Kindle Fire HD, will both feature a 2560 x 1600 pixel screen, amounting for some of the highest pixels densities for tablets in its size range (8-inch to 10-inch), and also pack a speedy Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC, featuring a quartet of 2.20 GHz Krait 400 CPU cores, and Adreno 330 GPU.

The validation page also reveals a custom Amazon-branded variation of Android 4.2.2, which drives the tablet, which is surprising. We half-expected Amazon to build its next Kindle OS over an Android 4.3 code-base, taking advantage of its new DRM features, given how content distribution is a cornerstone of every Kindle.
