WhatsApp, the largest messaging service in the world, can finally be used on desktop through a dedicated app. The software is now available for Windows 8+ and OS X 10.9+, allowing you to use WhatsApp outside of your browser. To get it set up, you need only scan a QR code using an app on your phone. Doing so will let WhatsApp sync your messages across mobile and desktop.
The service has more than a billion active users and WhatsApp is especially popular outside of North America.
With the desktop app, you can use keyboard shortcuts and you can have messages open in different windows.
