Crytek has revealed its next iteration of the CryEngine, which will support development on the current slate of consoles as well as the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Wii U and the PC. They also plan to add additional platforms to the engine in the future.
Crytek also announced that it will be bucking tradition and not be calling the new iteration of the engine CryEngine 4, but will instead be simply referring to it as CryEngine, sans the version number. They stated that this was due to the evolution of the game engine over time with the addition of new updates and upgrades.
They also stated that their Engine Licensing and Research teams have been made into one, so that they could "double the level of one-to-one" care for the people who license the game engine.
