If you are an ardent player of The Sims 3 and you've really got emotionally attached to your Sims, families and other custom content, you will want to keep playing Sims 3 as they will not be transferable into the next version of the game, The Sims 4.
Speaking to VideoGamer.com at Gamescom in Cologne Germany, Producer Ryan Vaughan stated that, ""We have brand new technology driving the game so unfortunately none of that carries over."
He continued that due to the new tools that will be in the game, they have developed a whole new way of creating your Sims and building your families, so transferring then is not part of the equation.
He did say that he is confident that the new Sims 4 "Create-A-Sim" tool would alow players to easily re-create their Sims and families, and that it would be a lot more fun.
No mention was made concerning the potentially thousands of dollars players have spent on add-on sets and the like.
Sims 4 is due to launch early next year, and here is a trailer of the in-game footage released at Gamescom this week.
