Delta Air Lines has deployed as many as 19,000 new Nokia Lumia 820 Smartphones to its flight attendants for the purpose of using it to enhance the in-flight experience of flyers as well as assist the flight attendants in doing their jobs a little bit better, and making it easier at the same time. Here's the list of features that the modified Nokia Lumia 820s will serve while flights are in the air, some 30,000 feet above the ground.
- Near real-time credit card processing
- Email eReceipts for purchases
- Use of pre-paid cards
- The ability to read coupons displayed on passenger mobile devices
Delta Air claims to have achieved a 10% increase in functioning speed over their existing and older systems in preliminary in-flight trials, certainly impressive eh. The agreement, signed between Microsoft, AT&T and Avanede, includes the option to expand solutions over the next three years with new Nokia Lumia devices as well.
