Respawn Says Titanfall 3 Isn't Guaranteed

The future of the Titanfall series is uncertain. According to Respawn CEO Vince Zampella, it is too early to tell if Titanfall 2's sales will justify another game. While he is happy with the critical response to the title, it's not clear that sales will be as positive, though they could be.

We don't know yet. The game is, critically, a huge success. We're really happy with all the reviews and the positive sentiment. Sales, it's too early to tell. We'd definitely like to tell more of the story and the universe. I think it's pretty safe to assume that we'll explore more of it. - Zampella

As long as the sales are adequate, it sounds like Respawn is certainly interested in making Titanfall 3. However, creating and marketing another game does need to make financial sense.

EA, which would publish the game, says it is "committed to the franchise."

I hope we do more of it. We probably plan to do more--as you know, we have the mobile games as well. I would like to see the universe live on. I think it's very expandable. I think there's a lot we can do with it. There's a lot of great ideas floating around here [at Respawn] that I would love to see come to life. - Zampella
