There are various routers available on the market, but Xiaomi decided to design a smarter router. The new Mi Router HD is not a normal wireless networking device. It is designed to maintain connectivity in your home or office that also has a surveillance-class hard drive inside.
Besides the standard router features, it is also capable of automatically syncing with a user's Dropbox folder and can integrate with Sonos audio system as well. Xiaomi also promised to add more features in near future.
The Mi Router HD will be released in China later in Q1 2017 in two versions with 1 TB and 8 TB of storage, priced at $200 and $500, respectively.
In terms of specifications, the Mi Router HD comes with 2600 Mbps 802.11ac Wi-Fi, 4×4 MU-MIMO, a Qualcomm IPQ8064 network processor, surveillance hard drive, 4 high-gain PCB array antennae, all inside an aluminum alloy housing.
