The National Football League (NFL) is beginning to adopt virtual reality when training officials. It's difficult to train referees to the point of eliminating discrepancies between them, but VR could help with that issue. It could eventually allow training to occur in immersive 3D replicas of actual games, for example.

VR is still quite limited, but it can already be used to view games in a more immersive way. When content is viewed in that way, it may be easier for officials to figure out what applying the rules looks like before they're tasked with doing so.
