An iris scanner will reportedly be included with the iPhone 8, the highest-end iPhone model that'll be released in 2017. The component would let users authenticate themselves just by looking at their phone. DigiTimes says the phone offers an OLED display, wireless charging, and an iris scanner.
With those features, the iPhone 8 will be one of the most upgraded models to ever reach the market. Though it's also reportedly coming with a $1,000+ price tag.
Like your fingerprint, your iris is unique enough to be used for biometric identification, although smartphone makers have generally opted for fingerprint scanning.
KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said he believes the phone will offer facial or iris scanning, though he's been leaning towards facial recognition.
