Popular PC hardware and smartphone company ASUS is ready to make its attempt at the VR this year with a standalone virtual reality headset. Unlike other VR solutions, the ASUS VR headset won't require a PC/console to run VR content, allowing users to use the headset anywhere.
The leaked render shows that the headset is very similar to Google's Daydream, but that is pretty much everything we know about it. The VR market will definitely move towards standalone VR headsets, since they are a lot more convenient to use than traditional VR headsets. ASUS will definitely have a hard time to beat Samsung's Gear VR, which was the best-selling VR headset in 2016 with 4.5 million of units shipped.
