Once it was revealed Nintendo would be discontinuing the NES Classic Edition, the console began selling much faster on eBay and resale values increased significantly. On April 13, eBay users were purchasing the system at a rate of one console per 2 minutes.
The average sale price on that day was $332, while the retail value of the NES Classic is just $60.
This response on eBay is reminiscent of what occurred shortly after the system's release and subsequent unavailability. It began selling incredibly fast on other sites and its value jumped.
