Tesla is voluntarily recalling 53,000 Model S and Model X vehicles due to a braking issue that could leave a car stuck once parked. No accidents have been caused by this manufacturing flaw, but Tesla wants to remain ahead of the issue and prevent any issues.
All of the affected vehicles were manufactured between February and October 2016. Those cars could have a flaw that prevents the electronic parking brake from turning off.
Tesla believes only 5% of the 53,000 vehicles may actually be using the flawed part, which was built by a third-party supplier.
The replacement process will only take 45 minutes.
