Amazon might be on the verge of entering the messaging app industry. AFTVnews reports the company is developing an app called Anytime that'll be available on Android, iOS, and desktop. It'll offer message encryption along with video and voice chat.
The app differs a bit from some competitors. According to the report, you'd only need someone's name to contact them (i.e. no need for phone numbers like in WhatsApp), you can add color codes to chats, and you can use @ mentions to bring people into conversations.
In some ways it sounds like a cross between a regular messaging app and a service like Discord.
