More news about Minecraft just keep rolling in. In a tweet, Markus Persson (Notch) the creator of the game, announced that Minecraft had sold over 450,000 copies on Christmas day across all platforms. It seems that the game is still performing amazingly well for Mojang.
The original tweet said December 24th, but was corrected in short order. According to all the information available, the game has sold close to 18 million copies thus far on all platforms and doesn't seem to be slowing down.
Originally, the game was made available in a beta version to help Mr. Persson cover development costs so he could continue to work on the project. The project was amazingly well received and Minecraft videos made by the millions of players can be found all over the internet.
Mojang's next game, "Scrolls", is still in alpha stage with no hard release date announced, but it will be interesting to see how well it does compared to Minecraft.
