Red is one of the best, if not the best, maker of high-end cinema cameras. To further improve its offering, the company has now discontinued the Dragon 8K VV sensor that was announced last year and introduced an all-new Monstro 8K VV full-frame sensor for its Weapon series of cameras.
The company claims the new sensor says outpaces its predecessor in dynamic range, noise levels and color accuracy. It will capture 8K at up to 60 fps, shoot 35-megapixel stills and deliver up to 300 MB/sec of throughput. While some current Weapon camera owners will be eligible for discounted sensor upgrades, the price of the upcoming Weapon 8K VV camera is set at $79,500.
