Samsung's Future Notebooks To Recognize In-Air User Gestures

Patent hunters have revealed that Samsung was awarded a US patent late last month by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, which describes the use of multi-layer electrodes for recognizing "non-contact" touch inputs on notebooks.

This means that future Samsung notebooks will be able to use in-air gestures to open specific files, toggle features, take screenshots, or input any other command simply by waving a hand over the touchpad. This is probably an answer to Apple's Force Touch technology that is now standard on all MacBooks and iPhones as 3D Touch.
