Video Lan Player, one of the most popular open source 3rd party video players in the market, has been updated to version 2.1.0 codenamed "Rincewind." This new milestone marks the beginning of a new era, where support for 4K content playback can be found on free, open source software as well, all thanks to the Video Lan development team. Also, VLC Player 2.1.0 brings enhanced support for MKV, MP4 and AVI files, a boost in the audio department as well as some tweaks and changes in the overall UI as well. Couple that with enhanced subtitles and you begin to see how this update is a big milestone in the development of this software.
