A Patent Hints At A Front-Facing Fingerprint Scanner For Galaxy S9

A rumour was floating around speculating that Samsung would use some iPhone X features on the upcoming Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus smartphones, including the depth-sensing facial recognition technology, but according to a new patent, the South Korean giant might still include a front-facing fingerprint scanner.

A patent filed by Samsung with KIPRIS, South Korea's patent and trademark organization, reveals a technology that would allow it to bundle a fingerprint sensor on the front of future smartphones, most likely the Galaxy S9. It appears that Samsung has finally fixed all issues with in-display fingerprint scanner technology and the new flagship models will finally arrive without a fingerprint scanner next to the rear camera.
