EA Sports Bringing Down Servers For Several Older Sports Games Beginning In January

In a service update, EA Sports has announced that they will be shutting down the servers for several old games starting in January 2013. Some of the games include FIFA Soccer 11, Madden NFL 11, Sims 2 and quite a few more. Click on the post for the full list.

Stating lower player number as the reason, EQ Sports stated, "... as games get replaced with newer titles, the number of players still enjoying the older games dwindles to a level -- fewer than 1% of all peak online players across all EA titles -- where it's no longer feasible to continue the behind-the-scenes work involved with keeping these games up and running.
