If you were a backer of the Kickstarter campaign to create a mobile game called Castle Breakers, the project has been cancelled after a sadly anemic start. After approximately 5 days the developer, Black Black Beast, had only drummed up $912 of its $35,000 goal.
The project was originally intended to target both the iOS and Android platforms as a free game (with monetized downloadable content).
The developer has not given up on the project and plans to relaunch a campaign, but has decided to target the game for Windows PC instead of mobile devices after what the developer stated were mistakes that were made in the initial campaign.
"After this week's disappointing start, I took a hard look at the data, listened to the feedback coming in, and sought out perspective from other developers and Kickstarter alums. Mistakes were made. A number of issues have been identified. Due to the nature of the Kickstarter system, some are more easily addressed on the fly than others. As such, I believe the best course of action will be to cancel the Kickstarter currently underway, and relaunch early next week."
He went on to say, "I believe the game itself is solid; it has been very well received online. Those that have played the prototype have enjoyed the imaginative spin on the classic game play, and the visuals have received considerable praise. I aim to eliminate some points of confusion and get a few more eyeballs on the project."
The game is sort of a meld between Legends of Zelda and Breakout, so if this seems interesting to you they will be relaunching the new Kickstarter campaign tomorrow (Monday, Sept. 30th).
