Intel, AMD Partner On Laptop Chip

Intel and AMD are joining forces for the first time since the 1980s to produce a chip that'll combine an Intel processor with an AMD graphics unit. They're aiming to offer a product that's a better competitor to those delivered by Nvidia. The chip will be targeted at gamers.

Their chip is intended for use in laptops that are thin, portable, and powerful enough to run more advanced games. It's part of Intel's 8th generation Core lineup.

Because they're going after the gaming market, the chip won't compete with AMD's Ryzen products, which aren't specifically meant for gaming.
