Last week's big haul was the exact dimensions of Apple's 5th generation iPad, being leaked to the web, revealing it to be thinner, shorter, and slimmer, than its predecessor, while retaining its 9.7-inch screen size. Its exact weight was one dimension we were left wanting to know, until now.
Apple's 5th generation iPad will be a stunning 37 percent lighter than its predecessor. Put in numbers, that's about 420 g for the WiFi+cellular version, compared to 662 g for the equivalent 4th generation iPad variant. From our older report, we know that iPad 5 measures 240 mm x 169.48 mm x 7.5 mm (length x width x thickness); compared to its predecessor's 241.33 mm x 185.8 mm x 9.55 mm.
While we don't expect the 9.7-inch screen to have any higher resolution than its current 2048 x 1536 pixels in the 4:3 format, we expect several under-the-hood changes, such as faster 64-bit A7 SoC, higher internal storage at existing price-points, a meatier battery, iOS 7, and possibly TouchID.
