iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C Begin Selling in India, at Saner Prices

Whoever spent 69,900 Indian Rupees for the iPhone 5S, and 47,500 Rupees for the iPhone 5C on pre-launch rip-off sales on eBay India, will be kicking themselves, as Apple formally launched the two in India at much lower prices, which are still high by market standards.

The iPhone 5S starts at 54,999 Rupees for the 16 GB variant, while the iPhone 5C is on average 10,000 Rupees cheaper, starting at about 44,000 Rupees. Amusingly, that makes it pricier than the aluminium-clad iPhone 5 16 GB, which is averaging at 42,000 Rupees in the Indian market. The iPhone 5 and 5C have practically identical innards.

The 32 GB variant of the iPhone 5S is priced around 60,000 Rupees, and the 64 GB variant at around 69,000 Rupees. The 32 GB variant of the iPhone 5C, on the other hand, is priced at 53,399 Rupees.

The prices at a glance (in Indian Rupees):

  • iPhone 5C 16 GB: 43,999
  • iPhone 5C 32 GB: 53,399
  • iPhone 5S 16 GB: 54,999
  • iPhone 5S 32 GB: 61,999
  • iPhone 5S 64 GB: 68,999

The Indian market isn't big on carrier-subsidized phones, although the likes of AirTel, Aircel, and Vodafone India could offer them. The all-upfront factory-unlocked iPhones could be available through leading online and ground-stores. "Holy sh*t" or "wholly sh*t?" Leave your comments below.
