Nexus 5 To Be Actually Called Nexus 4 (2013)?

The upcoming Nexus Smartphone by Google, a device which we've been calling the Nexus 5 for a better part of this year now, might actually be named nothing else but the Nexus 4 2013 edition. Now that we think of it, such a naming scheme is entirely plausible. Take the Nexus 7 for example, with the new model called the 2013 edition. The same rule is expected to be applied on both the Nexus 10 and the Nexus 5 Nexus 4 when either device is launched later this month.

So how exactly did we come to this conclusion? Well, leaked images from earlier today which gave us over a dozen glimpses at Android 4.4 KitKat also had one particular image showing the device's model name as "Nexus 4." And that's where the idea hit us (and publications across the globe) that Google might just call their new Smartphone the Nexus 4 2013, and not the Nexus 5 (a name that we have been literally fantasizing about for months now).

Just like the Nexus 7 2013 is to the 2012 model, the Nexus 4 2013 will arrive as a major upgrade, particularly in the display department. The jump from 4.7-inch HD (1280 x 720) to 5.0-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) is quite a leap for Google, who have been sticking with HD displays since November 2011 (Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Galaxy Nexus launch). The 1080p panel will bring a more populated app drawer, which is a good thing.

Needless to say, we can't wait to know all about the Nexus 5 (oops) Nexus 4 2013.
