Microsoft To Merge Windows Phone And Windows RT

A new tweet who claims to have sources working at the heart of Microsoft has tweeted that the software giant is working on unifying, or merging their (now separate) Windows Phone and Windows RT platforms, both coded to run on ARM architecture based processors like the Qualcomm Snapdragon series. None of this will happen anytime soon. The tweet further details that the merging will happen systematically over a period of about 2 years, following the thrice-a-year GDR updates for Windows Phone (and perhaps later on, Windows RT as well). It is not known as to what will happen with the UI for WP, as RT UI is simply not feasible for a small screen. We had heard rumors about a major UI overhaul with WP9 next year, perhaps that would be the convergence point.
