As absurd as it sounds, a new rumor is afloat that Sony's current flagship, the Xperia Z1, might get updated to the yet-to-be-released Android 4.4 KitKat as early as November 7th. We are pretty confident that Google will launch the new OS on or before October 31st along side the Nexus 5. So how would Sony push out an update just a week (two weeks tops) after the official release of the latest Android build?
One argument is that since Sony has long-since been a contributor to the Android codebase and due to their close relations with Google, the Japanese company might have been granted early access to the OS source code. It is also possible that other companies are benefitting from the same kind of 'early access', just that we don't know of any yet.
In any case, we'll find out the truth when November 7th comes.
